Shot on location in Calabar and in London, the epic love story brings together the lives of four people during the struggle to establish an independent republic in Nigeria in the 1960s.
The British-born Nigerian actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor who played the lead role of Odenigbo and the leading actress, Thandie Newton led the cast of Nigerian and international actors to the premiere. Nollywood actors Genevieve Nnaji and Onyeka Onwenu earned loud applause when they were introduced to the capacity filled audience.
This is no doubt a huge event in the history of Nigerian entertainment. it was directed by prolific UK-based Nigerian playwright, Biyi Bandele, and produced by Andrea Calderwood whose production credit as producer include HBO’s Generation Kill and The Last King of Scotland. This is Nigerians cheering a new lead for Africa and the world in entertainment.
It is a must watched movie. i have never been so proud to be a Nigerian. There's hope for many Nigerians and Africans who want to toll the line of literary adventure. Achebe obviously laid the foundation, which many will yet follow.
