Microsoft Office Adds New Feature

Microsoft announced several updates to Office that bring the following features:

  1.  Office Web Apps now automatically saves in the Word Web App and allows for real-time co-authoring in the Word, PowerPoint and Excel Web Apps.
  2.  Yammer Enterprise is now being included on all Office 365 Enterprise plans, rather than just in the top-end enterprise SKUs. And all existing Office 365 Enterprise customers will get Yammer Enterprise licenses.
  3.  Office 365 Home Premium subscribers will be able to share some of their benefits with family members starting next month. Currently, Office 365 Home Premium subscription purchasers are allowed to install Office on up to five different devices. But if users of those other devices wanted to take advantage of some of the services – such as SkyDrive storage – they had to use the original purchaser’s Microsoft account. The change next month allows a purchaser to assign up to four members of his/her household to be able to manage their own installs from their own Microsoft accounts, and to get an additional 20 GB of SkyDrive storage.

Microsoft is trying to get people to tell their stories on social media about how they use technology to get things done by declaring Thursday “Get It Done” day and creating a Facebook presence and a #GetItDone hashtag.
