Explosion Rocks Lagos Gas Company, 4 Injured

4 people were early Tuesday injured in an explosion that rocked a gas company along Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos State. There are, however, two different accounts of what led to the incident as the police and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) gave two versions of the fire incident.
The police in the state have begun investigations into the cause of the explosion, which created serious panic among residents of an housing estate, directly opposite the company.

According to NEMA, three people were burnt when they allegedly scaled the fence of Second Coming Gas Coming to steal gas from one of the cylinders.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the spokesperson of NEMA, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune said  the incident occurred around 5 30 in the morning on Tuesday.

He also said that the company denied that the injured people were their workers allegeding that they had forced their way into the company through the  back fence.

Meanwhile, policemen from the state police command  claimed that the explosion might have occurred as a result of an ignition from a cell phone.

The acting imagemaker in charge of the command , Damasus  Ozoani ,  said that four people were injured in  a fire incident that occurred at the gas company.

He added that the injured victims had been rushed to Akodo General Hospital , where they have continued to be treated for burns.
