Finally PDP's National Working Committee Had the Guts to Suspend the Uba Brothers

National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday, wielded its big stick on Senator Andy Uba and three other members of the party in Anambra State, for their failure to appear before it over their roles in the parallel governoship primaries conducted in the state on Saturday.
Others suspended along with Uba are his younger brother, Chris; factional state party chairman, Chief Ejike Oguebego, Chief Benji Udeozor and Mrs Anthonia Nwankwu.

The NWC had summoned the four to appear before it on Wednesday, so as to explain why disciplinary actions would not be taken against them in line with the constitution of the party, for conducting a parallel primaries.

However, all the affected members shunned the invitation and headed for court to institute a legal action against the party, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and Chief Tony Nwoye, who emerged the winner at the primaries authorised by the party.

A member of the NWC of the party told the Nigerian Tribune in confidence that letters of suspension signed by the acting national secretary of the party, Dr Charles Aderemi Akitoye, had already been dispatched to the affected party members.

As of the press time, neither the acting national publicity secretary of the party, Mr Tony Okeke nor any of the suspended party members could be reached for comments, but a source at the secretariat of the party in Abuja confirmed the suspension order.
