Niger State To Conduct Census For Unemployed Youths

Governor Muazu Aliyu of Niger State has directed all the 25 local government areas in the state to carry out a census of all unemployed youths in their various councils within the next one month.

The governor gave this directive during a meeting with all political office holders in the state at the government house in Minna,

Mr Aliyu, who lamented the raising youth unemployment in the state, noted that the menace is becoming a threat to the peace of the state because according to him an idle man is the devils workshop.

The governor explained that the census which should include age, educational qualification, and skill should be treated as urgent because the state government has concluded arrangement to engage 17,000 unemployed youths into the state’s civil service.

He informed the audience that a major part of the N2 billion accrue to the state from the SURE-P account will be used to tackle the raising graduate employment in the state.
