Few days to the commencement of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Professor Dibu Ojerinde, almost caught a bullet.
The JAMB boss disclosed how he escaped an alleged attempt on his life, as his house in Abuja was attacked by gunmen suspected to be hired assassins on Monday night.
The intruders were said to have scaled the fence of the house, entered through the back door and gained entrance into the house unnoticed, since the security men attached to the compound were stationed at the gate of the house.
Professor Ojerinde noted that according to the story narrated to him by the children and relations, who were staying with him, they were terrorised while the operation lasted, as the assailants continuously asked for him, searching everywhere in the house.
Ojerinde, who had travelled officially in preparation for the UTME slated for tomorrow, said nothing was taken out of the residence despite the thorough search conducted on the compound. He informed that the incident had been reported to Maitama police area command, with the divisional Police officer in charge of the command, Danladi Isa, confirming the story, noting that the command had swung into action to unravel the motive behind the mission of the intruders.
